HOW TO PROMOTE WITH AFFILIATE LINKS
This article explains what affiliate links are, how they track clicks and sales, and the key requirements for promoting offers through Odience. It also covers brand-specific guidelines, approval requirements, and best practices to help you drive more sales while staying compliant.
What Are Affiliate Links?
An affiliate link is a unique tracking URL generated specifically for you for each offer. The link contains a tracking code that identifies traffic and sales coming through your content.
When someone clicks your offer link and completes the required action - such as making a purchase, signing up, or making a deposit - the conversion is automatically attributed to your account. It is made possible through cookies and other tracking technologies.
As a result, your promotion performance, including sales and conversions, is tracked and rewarded.
Before You Start
Before promoting an offer, read the offer guidelines on the offer page.
Some brands have specific requirements for approval, content, permitted traffic sources, and promotional methods.
Depending on the offer:
- You may need approval from the brand before promoting the offer.
- Your account manager may contact you after you apply.
- You may need to contact Odience Support for further instructions.
- Some brands require content approval before you promote the offer.
Always follow the instructions provided in the Offer guidelines, as they take precedence over the general recommendations in this article.
If you have any questions about an offer, contact Odience Support or your account manager before promoting it.
Best Practices for Every Platform
Key principle
The highest-performing influencers do more than drop a link. They create content that shows value, builds trust, and naturally leads viewers to click the affiliate link.
Odience is a performance-based platform that rewards influencers for the conversions they generate, so help your audience understand why the product is useful before asking them to visit the offer.
Before diving into platform-specific tactics, follow these universal rules:
- Promote products that genuinely match your audience's interests.
- Make sure the offer is suitable for your targeted locations.
- Explain why you recommend the product instead of simply posting the link.
- Use clear calls to action (CTAs), such as "Get a discount" or "Claim your bonus."
- Show the product in use whenever possible.
- Make sure your promotions follow the FTC guidelines and any other applicable advertising regulations that apply in your country or region.
Contact your account manager or email shout@odience.io for recommendations.
